Removal of 323 municipal maters elected during the Awami government

The local government department has issued a notification removing the memora of 323 municipalities elected during the tenure of the government.

It is said that the local government (Municipality) (Amendment) Ordinance, 2024 Section 32(a) has been removed from the respective posts of the following municipalities of Bangladesh.

According to a government statement on August 16, if the government is considered essential in special situations in special circumstances, the government can remove the mast and councilor of any city corporation and municipality in the same way. Similarly, the chairman and members of the district council and the chairman of the upazila parishad, the chairman, vice chairman and female vice-chancellor, can also administer the administrator in them.

Keeping such provisions, the Advisory Council of the Interim Government has approved the Khasya of the ‘Stani Govt (City Corporation) (Amendment) Ordinance, 2024’, ‘Stani Govt (Municipal) (Amendment) Ordinance, 2024’, ‘Zilla Parishad (Amendment) Ordinance, 2024’ and ‘Upzilla Parishad (Amendment) Ordinance, 2024’.

The next day on August 17, the President issued an ordinance in this regard.
