Uttam Kumar's heroine Anjana Bhowmik passes away

Veteran Indian actress Anjana Bhowmik, who starred in Uttam Kumar's film, has passed away. She died this morning at a hospital in South Kolkata. The actress was 79 years old at the time of her death. Indian media reported that she was admitted to the hospital last night due to respiratory problems.

 

Actress Anjana Bhowmik is the mother-in-law of Tollywood actor Jishu Sengupta. Anjana Bhowmik's daughter Nilanjana and son-in-law Jishu have been in the hospital since morning. Along with them, many Tollywood actors including director Srijit Mukherjee and Arindam Sheel are also in the hospital.

Anjana Bhowmik had been ill for a long time due to old age.

She had been bedridden for the past 5-6 months. Her daughters, Nilanjana and Chandana, were taking care of her. Both of them were devastated by the loss of their mother. 

Actress Anjana Bhowmik was born on December 30, 1944, in Cooch Behar, North Bengal.

Her real name is Aarti Bhowmik, and her nickname is Babli. Anjana Bhowmik entered the world of cinema at the age of just 20, the name of the film was 'Anushtup Chanda'. Before the release of her first film, she changed her name from Aarti to Anjana. Her chemistry with Uttam Kumar on screen was vibrant. She was Uttam Kumar's heroine in the films 'Thana Te Aai', 'Chowrangi', 'Nayika Sangbad', 'Kakhno Megh', 'Raudrachaya'.
