21 candidates file nominations for two union by-elections in Kamalnagar

There are 21 candidates for the post of chairman in the two union parishad by-elections in Kamalnagar, Lakshmipur.

The post of chairman in the two union parishads was declared vacant after Khaled Saifullah, former chairman of Char Kadira Union Parishad, resigned from his post as a candidate for the post of chairman in the 6th Upazila Parishad election, and Nurul Amin Master, former chairman of Char Lawrence Union Parishad, passed away. Later, the Bangladesh Election Commission announced the schedule of by-election for the post on June 27, as per Rule 10 of the Local Government (Union Parishad) Election Rules 2010.

By the last date for filing nomination papers, July 4, 13 candidates had filed nominations for the post of Chairman in Char Lawrence Union Parishad No. 3 and 8 candidates for the post of Chairman in Char Kadira Union Parishad No. 8.

Md. Babul Mia, Md. Abul Kashem Howlader, Kafil Uddin Mahmud, Md. Solaiman, Mosharef Hossain Khokon, Md. Harun, A. Rahman Russell, Abdur Zaher, Mahbubul Alam Raju, Md. Nazrul Islam, Md. Ahsan Ullah, Farida Yasmin, Md. Anwar Hossain submitted their nominations for the post of Chairman in Char Lawrence Union.

Md. Nurullah, Khabirul Haque, Md. Ibrahim Babul, Md. Bahar, Ashraf Uddin Rajan Raju, Md. Faizullah, Abdur Rahim, Joydev Majumder submitted their nominations for the post of Chairman from Char Kadira Union. This information was confirmed by Upazila Election Officer, Char Lawrence and Char Kadira Union Parishad Election Returning Officer, Md. Zayedul Hossain Chowdhury.

In addition, Ismail Hossain and Nurul Karim could not submit their nominations for the post of chairman in Char Lawrence Union within the specified time.

Nomination scrutiny will be held on July 5, appeal against nomination scrutiny will be held from July 6 to 8, appeal disposal will be held on July 9, withdrawal of candidacy will be held on July 10, symbol allocation will be held on July 11, and voting will be held on July 27.
