Why is the price of hilsa not falling

From social media to the real fish market, there are many speculations that the price of hilsa is going on everywhere. After the decision not to export to India, many people are getting confused in the market after hearing about the fall in the price of hilsa.

Recently, Fisheries and Livestock Adviser Farida Akhtar, who informed about the government's position on not sending hilsa to India, said, "We apologize, but we cannot send any hilsa to India. It is an expensive fish. We have seen that the people of our country cannot eat hilsa because all are sent to India."

As the reason for the price of hilsa fish not being within the reach of the market despite not being exported, those associated with this business say that the price of hilsa is not decreasing due to various reasons. One of the reasons is the shortage of supply.

The government of the country has announced a two-month fishing program from March 1 to April 30. Fishing, transportation, sale and stockpiling is completely prohibited in the hilsa reservoir, then from May-June to mid-October, the businessmen consider this season to be ‘pick time’.

The contribution of hilsa fish to the production of hilsa fish in Bangladesh is 12 percent, according to the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock, its annual production is 577,700 metric tons.

The hilsa caught in the jail net comes to the buyer for three to five hands, the market also fluctuates on the price variation in Chandpur's currents, which is 3 to 400 grams per maund of hilsa was sold around 25 thousand rupees, which is 625 rupees per kg.

The price of fish per kg is 1000 to 1100 taka per kg. That is, fishermen earn this price per kg.In this, the price of fish rose 1500 to 1600 taka which is 2-300 taka more to the consumer.

Abdul Bari Jamadar, president of Chandpur Fisheries Merchant Association, said that this time compared to the previous years, there is very little fish available for the price of hilsa.

He claimed that he has paid 40 trawlers this year and said that he has not got enough fish so far, he said that he has paid 5 lakh rupees in each trawler.

It is through these donors that fishermen are required to sell fish, so they get ten percent of the money as commission agents, if there is no adequate supply, there is no chance of a reduction in prices, said other businessmen.

Another reason is the cost of fishermen and trawlers and business investment and other benefits. Bhola's savior Meya Yunus Mita said, the cost of selling the price is less than the price of sales. Ten thousand rupees is spent to sell fish for 6000 rupees.

Each trawler is worth one to one and a half crore rupees depending on the shape. They are usable for ten to twelve years. As a result, the sale of fish is essential even if the trawler is being sold at a good price.

However, some people complain of syndicates for the high price of the fish market, but the fish traders denied that we sell fish in open auctions. There is no opportunity for the syndicate, but if the fishermen catch fish in the net, they said that the price will come down by themselves.
