Mominul Haque Rubel, Brahmanbaria
Brahmanbaria ordinary students have demanded a reform of the quota system in government first and second class jobs.
They made this demand from a human chain program in front of the Brahmanbaria Press Club at 11 am on Saturday (July 6).
In the human chain program, students mentioned various demands, including the repeal of quotas, reducing all quotas to below 10 percent, allowing a quota beneficiary to only take quota benefits once at any stage in their life, and demanding employment.
Participating in the movement, the speakers also said that having quotas is not a good sign for any country. But those who liberated our country with their blood have been rewarded constitutionally and their current generation is still enjoying the results. But the amount of that reward should have been or how much. They are less than 2 percent of the total population of the country and the quota has been set at 56 percent for them. Which is completely unreasonable. We do not want the quota to be abolished, we want the quota system to be reformed. Our demand is that this quota percentage should be increased to a maximum of 10 percent. And along with this, those who benefit from the quota should take advantage of the quota once in their life in any case.
Moderated by University of Asia Pacific student Saniur Rahman, the speakers included President of Brahmanbaria Sammilit Sangskritik Jote, Ed. Abdun Noor, District Judge's Court lawyer, Ed. Nasir Mia, General Secretary of Brahmanbaria Khelaghar, Niharnjan Sarkar, Sonargaon University student Fahim Montasir, Brahmanbaria Government College student Saidul Hasan, Brahmanbaria Science and Technology College student Md. Zahid Hossain, and Kazi Shafiqul Islam College student Irin Mridha.
