Mobile court operations at various points on the Charbhadrasan Padma River

A mobile court conducted a drive at various points of the Padma River in Charbhadrasan Upazila of Faridpur on Wednesday afternoon, destroying 4,000 meters of current and seizing 20 kg of hilsa fish. The drive was led by Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Nishat Farabi. The others in the drive were Upazila Fisheries Officer SM Jahangir Kabir, Charbhadrasan Police Station Sub-Inspector Md. Rafiquzzaman, Field Assistant Shamim Arefin and Peshkar Manowar Hossain. It is learned that as part of the drive to protect mother hilsa during the breeding season, the mobile court conducted a drive in various water boundaries of Mathabhanga, Char Gopalpur and Harirampur unions of the Padma River in the Upazila from 3 to 5 pm on Wednesday. The fishermen who were poaching illegally fled after being alerted to the drive but abandoned the fish and nets. The mobile court seized about 4,000 meters of current net and 20 kg of mother hilsa. Later, the banned current net was destroyed by burning in the Gopalpur Ghat area of the Padma River and the seized 20 kg of hilsa fish were distributed to the Madinatul Ulum Dakhil Madrasa and Orphanage in Dangi village of Badulla Matubbar.
