Come to the country but don't stir up trouble, says Home Affairs Advisor to Sheikh Hasina

Addressing the recently departed Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Home Affairs Advisor Brigadier General M Sakhawat Hossain said, "You keep saying here and there that you will return to the country. Why did you go? You went voluntarily. You come. Your country. Come again. But don't create a ruckus. Then people will get even angrier. We respect you."

He made these remarks to reporters after a meeting with Hindu Mahajote leaders at the conference room of the Home Ministry on Monday (August 12) afternoon.

Brigadier General (Retd.) M Sakhawat Hossain said, after the fall of Jatiya Party leader Hussain Muhammad Ershad, he was told that if he wanted to go abroad, he could go. Otherwise, he would have to go to jail. He went to jail. You (Sheikh Hasina) should also come back. Don't push the country towards anarchy. Reorganize the party with a new face.

He said, "No political party should be banned. These things are done to achieve a purpose. It is different if it is a militant organization." In response to a question about banning Jamaat, he said, "We have not done this. If any instructions in this regard are sent from the Home Ministry to the Law Ministry, they will decide."

Stating that the Political Parties Act will be enacted, the Home Affairs Advisor said, "We don't want a dictator. We want an accountable government. Those who can do politics will do politics. Those who can't, won't."
