In Narsingdi, free seeds and fertilizers have been distributed among small and marginal farmers of the upazila to increase the cultivation and production of Kharip-2/2024-25 season under the Agricultural Rehabilitation and Agricultural Incentive Program for the 2023-24 fiscal year, affected by natural disasters/remal in Monohardi.
Newly elected Monohardi Upazila Parishad Chairman Nazrul Majid Mahmud Swapan inaugurated the free seed and fertilizer distribution program as a special guest at the Upazila Parishad Hallroom on Tuesday (July 2) at 11 am with Upazila Executive Officer Hasiba Khan in the chair.
This season, 5 kg of seeds of the high-yielding (Ufshi) variety of Ropa Aman, 10 kg of DAP and 10 kg of MOP fertilizer will be distributed free of cost among 1,440 small and marginal farmers in 12 unions and 1 municipality of the upazila.
The welcome speech was delivered by Agrobid Runa Akhter, Upazila Agriculture Officer of Monohardi, at the free seed and fertilizer distribution ceremony organized by the Upazila Agriculture Extension Department of Monohardi and moderated by Deputy Assistant Agriculture Officer Mahfuzur Rahman.
Also speaking were newly elected Upazila Vice Chairman Md. Touhid Sarkar, newly elected Women Vice Chairman Shahnaz Parveen Shilpi, Chandanbari UP Chairman Abdur Rouf Hiron and Lebutola UP Chairman Zakir Hossain Akand. Deputy Assistant Agriculture Officers of various unions, officers/employees of various departments, public representatives and small and marginal farmers from various unions were present at the time.
