Bangabandhu's Birthday: Government holiday on March 17 canceled

The government has taken the initiative to cancel the birth anniversary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the holiday of National Children's Day.

Several officials concerned told Jugantar that the summary of cancellation of March 17 is being sent on the instructions of the Chief Advisor's office, i.e. the Cabinet Department. That is, March 17 is no more public holiday.

Bangladesh has not celebrated International or World Children's Day but it was not National Children's Day. After the awami League came to power in 1996, the father of the nation Bangabandhu's birthday was declared as National Children's Day on March 17. After the advent of Awami League power in 1996, the same cabinet was declared a national holiday from 1997. Later, this day was also declared a general holiday.
