Names of 10 educational institutions in Bhola changed

In Bhola, 10 educational institutions named after the dictatorial allies of the previous government have been renamed.

The names of the institutions were changed through a notification issued by the Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Department of the Ministry of Education on Sunday. 

Among the educational institutions whose names have been changed, 1 in Bhola Sadar, 1 in Tajumuddin Upazila, 2 in Lalmohan Upazila, 5 in Char Fashion Upazila and 1 in Monpura Upazila have been renamed.

Banglabazar Fatema Khanam Degree College in Bhola Sadar was renamed Bangla Bazar Degree College. In addition, the names of 5 educational institutions in Char Fashion were changed respectively - Dakshin Aicha Principal Nazrul Islam College was renamed - Dakshin Aicha College, Principal Nazrul Islam College was renamed - Chairman Bazar Ideal College, Neelima Jacob Women's College was renamed - Dularhat Model College, Abdullah Al Islam Jacob College was renamed - Osmanganj United College, Principal Nazrul Islam Teachers Training College was renamed - Bhola Teachers Training College.

The educational institutions in Lalmohan Upazila that have been changed are—Nurunnabi Chowdhury College, whose new name is—Badarpur College, Haji Md. Nurul Islam Chowdhury Degree College, whose name is—Lalmohan Degree College.

The names of two institutions in Tajumuddin and Monpura upazilas have also been changed - Tajumuddin Hosneyara Chowdhury Women's College has been renamed Tajumuddin Women's College, and Sakuchia Abdullah Al Islam Jacob College has been renamed Sakuchia College.

The name of the changed educational institution has caused anger among the local people as it was a family-centered institution during its establishment. 

They said that an institution was not named after a renowned academic or poet.
