Nasir Uddin, the former headmaster of BN Hat Government Primary School No. 80 in Mathbaria, Pirojpur, and currently the headmaster of Model Government Primary School No. 56, has been accused of various irregularities and corruption.
It was found that he had been involved with Dhaka College Chhatra League since his student days. Immediately after joining the school, he embezzled government funds instead of spending them for work. Due to the influence of his cousin, the organizing secretary of the Central Chhatra League, Mamun-bin Sattar (now deceased), at that time and his closeness to political circles, no one dared to protest this. As a result, the quality of education in the school gradually declined and the number of students decreased.
When the situation changed after the fall of the fascist government on August 5, 2024, he misled the authorities and transferred from School No. 80 to Model Government Primary School No. 56, ignoring the primary education transfer policy, claiming to be a supporter of BNP.
“"According to the rules, a headmaster cannot be transferred if there are not at least 5 teachers in a school, but his transfer is completed when 4 teachers are working, and outside government policies, a teacher cannot apply for transfer while he is training at PTI," said a source.
While he was undergoing PTI training in Pirojpur, he applied for a transfer and managed the then Upazila Education Officer, and was transferred outside the government policy. As a result, there was a teacher shortage in School No. 80 and teaching activities were being disrupted.
There are allegations that after joining School No. 56, he got involved in various irregularities in the admission process. There are various allegations such as taking extra money in the name of selling admission forms, admitting students outside the catchment area, collecting money from fifth grade students for testimonials, taking money while issuing exemption certificates, and engaging in various business activities at the Upazila Secondary Education Office during school hours.
There are also allegations of withdrawing contingency allowance from two schools at the same time.
Despite the government's allocation for the 2024-25 fiscal year, there have also been allegations of extortion from teachers and students during the "July Purnajagran" program. It is alleged that he is involved in his own coaching business and provides exam question papers to students in advance. Due to his negligence, about 300 students have been deprived of stipends. There is extreme anger among parents and students over these activities.
In this regard, the accused headmaster Nasir Uddin said, "While I was under the jurisdiction of BN Hat Government Primary School No. 80, I applied to Model Government Primary School No. 56 after consulting with an official while I was undergoing PTI training." However, he refused to name the official. In response to a question about whether a teacher can apply despite the crisis, he said, "I was transferred as per the rules."“
He also claimed that he had no connection with the Chhatra League leader. He also claimed that he was not involved in any irregularities at Model No. 56 Government Primary School. In response to a question about why students were admitted outside the catchment area, he said, "This is an ongoing process."“
In response to a question about why students were deprived of stipends, he said, "There was a problem with the server, I am in touch with the parents. Everything will be fixed in stages."“
Upazila Primary Education Officer Md. Mansur Helal said, "We have formed an investigation committee after receiving a verbal complaint. The investigation is ongoing, and if found guilty, action will be taken as per the rules."“
