Metrorail to open on Sunday

The metro rail will resume operations tomorrow, Sunday, after being closed for more than a month. Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited Company Secretary Mohammad Abdur Rouf said that the metro rail will operate regularly from tomorrow, Sunday (August 25).

Earlier, a press release from the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges on Tuesday said that Metrorail employees have joined work. The Metrorail authorities have expressed hope to launch the Metrorail from Sunday (August 25).

Senior Secretary of the Road Transport and Highways Department Md. Ehsanul Haque visited the Secretariat Station of the Metrorail. During this time, he discussed with the officials and employees about the launch of the very fast metrorail and gave instructions to take necessary measures in this regard.

However, even though the metro rail is operational, the operations of Kazipara and Mirpur-10 stations will remain closed for the time being due to the need for repairs and renovations, said Senior Secretary of the Road Transport and Highways Department Md. Ehsanul Haque. He also asked to take necessary measures to quickly resume operations of these two stations.

During the anti-discrimination student movement program on July 18, when a police box was set on fire at Mirpur-10 roundabout, the authorities stopped the metro rail service at 5 pm that day. The next day, vandalism occurred at Mirpur-10 and Kazipara stations.
