Petition to remove RAB from investigation into Sagar-Runi murder case

The state has applied to the court to address the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) from the investigation of the murder of journalist couple Sagar Sarwar and Mehrun Rooney.

The application was filed in the High Court bench headed by Justice Farah Mahbub on Monday (September 30).

Earlier on Sunday (September 29), Sagar-Rooney's murder case was appointed for the first time by lawyer Shishir Monir, the plaintiff in the case and brother of Rooney, Nowsher Ali Roman.

Incidentally, on the night of February 11, 2012, journalist couple Sagar-Runi was brutally murdered in West Rajabazar of the capital. The next morning, their mutilated bodies were recovered, and later on February 12 of that year, Nowsher Ali Roman, brother of Rooney of that year, filed a case in Sherebangla Nagar police station.

An officer of the Sherebangla Nagar police station investigated the case, then after the investigation of the case on February 16, the police inspector of the police (DB) North after the investigation of the case. Rabiul Alam has been unable to submit an investigation report to Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) 111 times in 12 years since then, on the order of the High Court.

But after the murder, the home minister said that the murderers will be revealed in 48 hours and it will be revealed to the nation, but in an era, it has not seen the light of day.
