RAB has arrested Mohammad Ekramul Karim Chowdhury, former Member of Parliament of Noakhali-4 (Sadar and Subarnachar) Constituency and former General Secretary of District Aomi League.
He was arrested from Khulshi in Chittagong on Tuesday (October 1) night.
Ekramul Karim Chowdhury was elected Member of Parliament for the first time in the 9th National Parliament Election held on December 29, 2008. Later, he was re-elected as a Member of Parliament in the 10th, 11th and 12th National Parliament Elections. Earlier, Ekramul lost in Noakhali-5 seat as an independent candidate in the 2001 National Election.
Ekramul Karim Chowdhury's wife Kamrun Nahar Shiuli was the chairman of Kabirhat Upazila Parishad of Noakhali.His son Atahar Ishrak Shabab Chowdhury was elected as the chairman of Subarnachar Upazila Parishad a few days ago and his nephew Zahirul Haque Raihan is the mayor of Kabirhat Municipality.
