What the police and RAB say about the former home minister's escape to India

Former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal and several other Awami League leaders were seen at Ecopark in Kolkata. They were recently caught on camera by Bangladesh's private television channel Twenty-Four.

When asked about this at the Karwan Bazar Media Center on Wednesday (October 2), Lt. Col. Md. Munim Ferdous, Director (Spokesperson) of the Legal and Media Wing of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), said, "I don't know anything about the former Home Minister's stay in India. I know what you know from watching TV, just like I do."

When asked about this, Additional Inspector General of Police (acting) Md. Shah Alam, head of the Special Branch (SB) of the police, said, "I have seen news in the media that several people, including the Home Minister, were seen in a park in Kolkata. The Immigration Police does not have information about how they went."

He said, "I can assure you that none of those seen, including the Home Minister, crossed immigration. Immigration has no information about their departure."

He also said, "Since there is no information at immigration, they must have gone illegally. They could have walked, gone by car, crossed the border illegally by land."
