Awami League leader MA Momin Patwary, who was beaten up while paying his respects at No. 32, Dhanmondi, on August 15, has died after being treated in hospital for two weeks, his party alleges.
He died while undergoing treatment at a hospital on Green Road in the capital on Friday morning.
Momin Patwari, 54, was the central social service secretary of the Liaquat-Babu Committee of the Chhatra League. He was most recently the assistant secretary of an Awami League sub-committee and a member of the Ramganj Upazila Awami League in Lakshmipur. He has a son.
The Awami League's verified Facebook page said that MA Momin Patwary, former social service secretary of Bangladesh Chhatra League, who was injured 'after being attacked by BNP-Jamaat terrorists' while paying homage at No. 32 in Dhanmondi on August 15, passed away at 4 pm on Friday.
