Two leaders of the Bangladesh Chhatra Dal have been accused of stopping a pickup van in Hatibandha, Lalmonirhat, and looting 53 sacks of fertilizer. The incident took place in the Doani More area of Barakhata Union on Monday afternoon.
Ashraful Islam of Thanapara area of Patgram upazila illegally sold 80 sacks of fertilizer to Shahjahan, a fertilizer trader of Chaparhat area of Kaliganj upazila. The fertilizers were being taken to Kaliganj in a pickup van. On suspicion, some youths seized the pickup at Barakhata Doani More area of Hatibandha.
At that time, Shariful Islam Sabuj of West Sardubi village in Hatibandha, Rashedul Islam Sabuj, secretary of Fakirpara Union Chhatra Dal, and some others looted the fertilizers. After the police were informed, the police conducted raids at various places at night. Later, 11 sacks of fertilizer were recovered from the house of Sabuj, secretary of Fakirpara Union Chhatra Dal. Based on the information given by him, the police seized 36 more sacks of fertilizer.
