77 upazilas of 11 districts of the country were flooded, 18 people died

The sudden flood has been inundated in 587 units under 77 upazilas of 11 districts of the country after August 20. It has caused waterlogging of 1.5 million families and 5.1 million people have been affected.

The flood-affected districts are Feni, Comilla, Chittagong, Khagrachari, Noakhali, Moulvibazar, Habiganj, Brahmanbaria, Sylhet, Lakshipur and Cox's Bazar.

The Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief has sent out a press release on Saturday night (August 24) describing the overall flood situation, which has been highlighted in the notification.

According to the notification, 7 districts have died in 18 districts out of 11 districts affected by floods. Among them, 4 people have died in Comilla, 1 person in Feni, 5 people in Chittagong, 3 people in Noakhali, 1 person in Lakshipur and 3 people in Cox's Bazar.

The notification said that a total of 3 Hatcher 513 shelters have been opened to provide shelter to people affected by waterlogging/damaged people. And a total of 3 lakh 1 thousand 993 people have sheltered in the shelters, while 21 thousand 695 cattle have been sheltered at the same time, a total of 769 medical teams are running to provide medical services to the victims of 11 districts.

 

According to the notification, the District Commissioner of the flood affected districts has been given necessary instructions to work together with the coordinator of the anti-discrimination student movement, the army, the navy, medical team and other volunteers.

The Fani, Noakhali, Chittagong, Brahmanbaria, Comilla, Habiganj and Lakshipur districts are engaged in rescue operations in coordination with the Army, Navy, Coast Guard, Fire Service and Civil Defense, Student Society and BGB District Administration. And the doctors of the office of the army and district civil surgeon are providing services.

The advisor and secretary in charge of the Ministry of Disaster Management and Relief visited the flood-affected areas on the ground to monitor the flood situation.
