Five Commissioners including Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Autal are resigning.
The CEC announced his resignation in a press conference at 12 noon on Thursday (September 5).
It is also known that the EC members will go to meet the President after the press conference.
pupil - In the face of mass agitation, the interim government was formed after the fall of the government on August 5. Since then, the demand for the resignation of the Kazi Habibul Awal commission has been raised, and the members of the Election Commission feel that their posts will be removed in the current situation, so they have mentally prepared for their resignation, according to reliable sources.
However, it is said that the EC members have tried to contact the President and the top wing of the interim government for this advice, whether they will resign themselves or if there is any plan of the government.
It should be noted that the current Election Commission led by Kazi Habibul Autal on 27th February 2022 was the current Election Commission. The commission was 5 years old. During the tenure of this commission, most of the political parties boycotted the 12th national parliamentary elections and only the Awatami League and their allied parties participated in the election.
