Taking the law into one's own hands will result in punishment: Dr. Yunus

Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, the chief advisor to the interim government, has said that those who take the law into their own hands and create chaos in society will be punished.

He made this statement in his address to the nation at 7:30 pm on Wednesday (September 11).

Dr. Yunus said, "We are determined to create a blueprint for a democratic Bangladesh for you, our children. And so that we do not fall into the hands of any dictatorship, so that we can say that we live in a democratic country, so that we can all claim that this country is ours - we are working towards that goal."

At this time, he urged people not to take the law into their own hands, saying, "If someone takes the law into their own hands and creates a chaotic environment in society, we will definitely bring them to justice."

The chief advisor also said, "We are a country of communal harmony. No one should do anything that destroys religious harmony."

It is worth noting that Sheikh Hasina resigned from the post of Prime Minister and left the country on August 5 in the face of the ongoing student movement. Then, on August 6, at a meeting at Bangabhaban with President Md. Shahabuddin, the heads of the three services and the coordinators of the student movement, it was decided to form an interim government with Dr. Muhammad Yunus as its head.

Dr. Yunus took oath as the chief advisor of the interim government on August 9. In his address to the nation after taking the oath, Dr. Yunus said that every institution and its members will enjoy the second independence by fulfilling their respective duties. They will take the country to the pinnacle of glory.
