Finally, 3 thousand tons of hilsa are going to India

Finally, on the occasion of the upcoming Durga Puja, the government has approved the export of 3000 tons of hilsa to India.

This information was informed in the press release of the Ministry of Commerce on Saturday (September 21).

It has also been said that the exporters have approved the export of 3000 tons of hilsa subject to the application of the prescribed conditions. The relevant applicant is requested to apply to the Ministry of Commerce on September 24, 2024 along with the documents (Deputy Secretary, Export-2 Branch, Room No. 3, Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce).

Those who have already applied are not required to apply again.

Earlier, the interim government had decided not to export hilsa to India this year to increase the supply in the country. In such a situation, there have been reports of sending letters to Bangladesh demanding that India send hilsa.

According to a news report, Hindustan Times says that hilsa has been imported from Bangladesh for the past 5 years. This time, the Fish Importer Association has appealed to Bangladesh government advisor Tauhid Hossain to send hilsa to India in accordance with that custom.
