'Half pass' for 7 days for students from Tuesday

Dhaka Sabha Paribahan Owners Association has announced the launch of ‘Half Pass’ (half Bhasa) for students seven days a week.

Saiful Alam, general secretary of that association, said that the decision will be effective on Tuesday (September 24) in all the metropolitan areas of the country including Dhaka.

He announced this in a meeting organized by the Dhaka Saak Paribahan Owners Association at the Engineers Institution Bangladesh (IEB) auditorium in the capital on Monday (September 23).

In order to bring back order to the great-mahas, this meeting should be organized to raise the awareness of the owners and workers.

Saiful Alam said that every day from 6 am to 12 pm, students will get half of this facility. For this, students should have uniform wearing or pictured.

The joint statement of the owners association and the safe road movement (NISA) said that a meeting was held at the central office of the association on Saturday (September 22) regarding the problems of the students' half fare and transport sector. There was a decision to enforce the half fare for seven days a week instead of five days a week. The leaders of the owners' association took this decision to thank each other.

The Bangladesh Transport Authority (BRTA) introduced a half pass on December 1, 2021 (except Friday-Saturday) through a notification, which was 8am to 8pm.

Deputy Inspector General of Police Shyamal Kumar Mukherjee was present as the chief guest at the awareness creation meeting of the owners and workers.

Director of BRTA (Road Safety) Sheikh Mohammad Mahbub-e-Rabbani, Joint Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan South Traffic Police Md. Kamruzzaman, President of Bangladesh Transport Workers Federation Abdur Rahim Baks, Executive President of Malik Samiti Alauddin, Abasan Safe and Convener of Movement, Abdullah Mehdi and others spoke on the occasion.

Saiful Alam, General Secretary of Dhaka Sakha Paribahan Owners Association conducted the program.

The owners and workers of various transport companies operating in Dhaka city were present in the meeting.
