Why was this Islamic negotiator forced to leave the country despite his immense popularity, such questions are circulating on the timelines of netizens. No specific answer has been found to the question of what caused him to suddenly leave the country in 2020. However, at that time, Azhari himself mentioned some surrounding reasons on Facebook. However, he did not mention what those reasons were.
Regarding the reason for Mizanur Rahman Azhari's departure from the country, multiple sources say that there was widespread discussion about an incident in January 2020 when 12 Indian citizens converted to Islam at one of Azhari's gatherings. It is believed that the then Awami League government forced Azhari to leave the country under invisible pressure from the Indian government.
Maulana Monirul Islam, an Azhari devotee, said, "Mizanur Rahman Azhari was an outspoken and courageous speaker. He did not care about anyone while giving speeches at his gatherings. Moreover, numerous non-Muslims used to convert to Islam by coming to his various gatherings. As far as we know, this was the reason why he was forced to leave the country."
He said that Azhari Sahib was not only a cause of fear for the then government, but was also the eyesore of numerous hypocrites and followers. They also conspired in various ways to keep Azhari Sahib away from the field of preaching.
In a status posted on social media Facebook, another Azhari fan said, "Maulana Mizanur Rahman Azhari is not only a treasure of Bangladesh, people from different parts of the country and abroad used to listen to his talks. Even many people have converted to Islam after coming to Bangladesh. That is why it seems that he was expelled from the country due to international pressure."
In January 2020, a religious conversion incident at one of his gatherings in Joypurhat created a lot of discussion. After that, the religious conversion of 12 Indian citizens at another gathering in Lakshmipur also created a lot of discussion. This Hindu family in question had come from India. At that time, the Bangladeshi police arrested all 12 people and sent them back to India.
Then, there was a huge discussion after the government's Minister of State for Religion Azhari was accused of being affiliated with the Jamaat. At that time, a relative of Mizanur Rahman Azhari told the media that Azhari had faced obstacles at various places during the last two mahfils.
Incidentally, Mizanur Rahman Azhari announced his departure from Bangladesh to Malaysia in February 2020. He has been staying in Malaysia since then. At that time, he wrote in a Facebook post, "Due to some external reasons, this year's Tafsir program has to end here. Therefore, my remaining programs have been postponed until March. I am going back to Malaysia for research work. If Allah Almighty gives me the opportunity, we will meet and talk again, InshaAllah."
