Former Planning Minister and former Member of Parliament of Sunamganj-3 Constituency (Shantiganj and Jagannathpur) MA Mannan has been granted bail. Sunamganj's Sinhar District and Department Judge Md. Hematt Uddin granted his bail after the hearing on Wednesday (October 9) at noon. Senior lawyer Abdul Hamid did not participate.
Earlier, at around 11:00 am, the judges got down from the courtroom after the bail hearing of MA Mannan in the same court, and the judge got off the courtroom after the afternoon.
On the night of September 19, police arrested MA Mannan from his own basin in Shantiganj upazila. He was in Sunamganj district jail on Saturday. Be sick. First he was taken to the district headquarters hospital and later to Sylhet Central Prison Hospital. From there he was shifted to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital on Tuesday morning.
The students of the Sunamganj-Sylhet regional masses blocked, protested and human chained in Shantiganj demanding the arrest of MA Mannan, but the leaders and workers of BNP and allied organizations in Shantiganj and Sunamganj towns have protested for several times.
In Sunamganj town, on August 4, the protesters were attacked by the anti-discrimination student movement, Hafiz Ahmad, brother of injured student Zahoor Ahmad, filed a case under the Sadar Model Police Station on September 2. The case was accused of 99 people including MA Mannan.
After completing his career as a joint secretary, MA Mannan joined the politics of Aomi League and was elected Member of Parliament four times since 2008. He was the Minister of State for Finance and Planning in the 2014 elections and after the 2018 elections, he was given the title of Planning Minister of the government.
