A gas cylinder in a bus in Lakshmipur The blast killed three people and at least 20 people were burnt, 10 of them were in critical condition, the doctor said that the accident took place at Muktiganj area of Laxmipur town on Sunday (October 13) around 2 am.
The deceased are - Sumon Hossain, son of Charmansa Batumi of Bhabaniganj Uni of Sadar Upazila, Sujamita's son of Banchanagar area. Yusuf Mita and Hrid Hossain said they were drivers of CNG-powered autorickshaws.
The injured are Suman Hossain, Md. 20 people were burnt, including Rocky, Mohammad Fahad Hossain, Siraj Mita, Md. Hrid, Shanto Khan and Abdul Malek, and 10 of them were in critical condition, they were sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital and the injured are said to be drivers of buses and CNG.
Eyewitnesses said that a bus called Meghna Paribahan going to Lakshmipur-Ramgatti came to Green Life Filling Station to get gas. The explosion was reportedly that the CNG drivers at the station started running and three CNG drivers died on the spot, while at least 20 others were injured.
Later, two units of the Fatar Service and the police reached the spot and recovered the bodies of the three dead and sent them to the Sadar Hospital morgue. The injured were rescued and admitted to Sadar Hospital The condition worsened later, the seriously injured were sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital and others are being treated at Sadar Hospital.
Laxmipur Fatur Service Station Officer Ranjit Kumar said, "After the news reached the spot, the dead and injured were rescued at Sadar Hospital. Three people died on the spot. The gas cylinder of the bus was of low quality, which caused the gas neota's engine to explode.
