An interfaith dialogue was held at the initiative of the Peace Facilitator Group (PFG) in Monohardi, Narsingdi, with the slogan "Let's build a Bangladesh of peace and harmony, not conflict."
The dialogue was held at the Monohardi Upazila Parishad Hallroom on Monday (October 21, 2024) at 11 am.
The program began with recitation from the Holy Quran and reading from the Holy Gita. The program was presided over by Kazi Anwar Kamal, Coordinator of Peace Facilitator Group (PFG) Monohardi, and was attended by Monohardi Upazila Executive Officer Hasiba Khan, Press Club President Md. Asaduzzaman Noor, and Narsingdi PFG Coordinator Haldhar Das as guests.
The program was moderated by Ripon Acharya, Field Coordinator of The Hunger Project Bangladesh. In the dialogue, PFG Ambassador Saidur Rahman Taslim read an article on the journey of harmony and Hasina Himu read the declaration.
Also present were PFG Ambassador Upazila BNP General Secretary Aminur Rahman Sarkar Dolan, PFG Ambassador Ariful Islam Bhuiyan, PFG Ambassador Emdadul Haque Titu, PFG Ambassador Julekha Afroza Banya, imams of various mosques and temple priests of 12 unions of the upazila, journalists, civil society representatives and other important figures.
The speakers said, one of the goals of the great liberation war was to establish equality, human dignity and social justice for every citizen of this country. We are moving forward with the dream of building a Bangladesh of peace and harmony, forgetting the differences between people. We want to build our beloved homeland as a developed, prosperous and dignified state in the world. We want to build a humane and just society where every person will be safe, everyone's religion, culture or belief will be intact and a peaceful life with dignity will be ensured. From the inter-religious dialogue program, all participants and religious leaders expressed their strong determination to build a harmonious society free from extremism and militancy.
Finally, the participants unanimously signed a declaration containing 11 declarations to protect inter-religious harmony in the upazila.
