US President Donald Trump said, "I don't want to destroy Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's political career, and Trump also said he loves him."
Wednesday (October 15) at the White House Trump told reporters that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has assured him that New Delhi will not buy oil from Russia and he claims that the move will help bring peace to war-torn Ukraine.
‘Modi is a great man. He loves Trump. He immediately said, ‘I don't want you to think of the word ‘love’. I don't want to destroy his (Modi's) political career.’
"I have been watching India for many years now, it is an incredible country, some have been in the new leadership, some have been few months, some are less, but my friend has been a leader who has passed the test of time.
Earlier, Trump had accused India of financing Russia in the Ukraine war and that his efforts to make peace are being hampered.
He acknowledged the intense antagonism between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukraine President Volodimir Zelensky as a major obstacle to peace, but according to him, if India stops buying oil from Russia, it will be much easier to stop the war.
‘If India doesn't buy oil, it's getting much easier. They have assured me that they will soon stop buying oil from Russia. When the war is over, they can deal with Russia again.’
