The fire service was not reported to have been reported by the fire service at 10:30 pm on Saturday night in Kadirdi Bazar of Satair Union of Boalmari Upazila of Faridpur.
According to fire service and local sources, the fire started from Nasir Darji's shop in the fish market adjacent to the fish market in Kadirdi Bazar around 10:30 pm, initially it is believed that the fire originated from an electric short circuit.
At least 17 shops including Bachchu Mollar Market, Aziz Mollar Market in the neighboring four markets, Manihari shops, medicine shops, tailors, seed stores, shoe shops, restaurants were completely burnt in the fire.
At first, local residents tried to put out the fire, but because of the intensity of the fire, the fire was high. They failed and after receiving the information, the members of the Madhukhali fire service reached the spot, then the Boalmari Fire Service personnel came and brought the fire under the help of local people in two hours of effort, but the traders alleged that the fire service first reached the spot after the Madukhali fire service and then the Boalmari Fire Service reached the spot.
Local UP member Bulbul Hossain said the fire was reportedly started by a short circuit from Nasir Darji's shop, which has destroyed 17 businesses in the fire, causing more than crores of damage, and the fire service came to the spot about an hour after receiving the news, but if they did not come, a large part of the market would have been burnt.
Boalmari Fire Service Station Leader Khalek Sheikh said, ‘Before we reached the spot, the Madukhali Fire Service personnel were trying to bring the fire under control. After we reached, two units together with the help of local people were able to extinguish the fire.’
