All types of fishing, including hilsa, banned for 22 days
A ban on all types of fishing, including hilsa, has been declared in the Padma-Meghna River in Chandpur for 22 days. The ban will be in effect from midnight on October 12 to November 3. During this period, transportation, buying, selling, storing and exchanging hilsa will be prohibited nationwide. According to relevant sources, no fisherman will be allowed to enter the river in the 100-kilometer area from Shatanal of the Meghna River to Char Alexander in Laxmipur during the ban. Anyone caught and sold hilsa during the ban can be punished with a maximum of two years of rigorous imprisonment or a fine of up to Tk 5,000, along with both.
