Even after 13 days of the withdrawal of the Deputy Commissioners (DCs) from 25 districts, the government has not yet appointed DCs in those districts. The head of civil administration in the district is the Deputy Commissioner. They play an important role in ensuring effective local administration and public service. Since they are responsible for the district council and municipality, the DCs now have to perform additional responsibilities. Now, additional Deputy Commissioners have to handle the work of these 21 districts. On the other hand, the four DCs who have been transferred have to remain in their previous places of work as their districts were affected by the floods. Sources said that the Ministry of Public Administration is not able to appoint DCs in the districts right now because a list of suitable officers has been prepared for this work.
