
“Rooppur corruption investigation” designed to harass Sheikh Hasina and her family
The so-called “Rooppur corruption investigation” is essentially a misleading campaign, designed to spread misinformation and harassment against the former prime minister and her family. The Anti-Corruption Commission of Bangladesh (ACC), which was recently reconstituted by the interim government led by Dr. Yunus and includes pro-government and BNP-affiliated individuals, has decided to investigate alleged corruption allegations in the Rooppur Nuclear Power Project (RNPP). The allegations claim to involve around US$5 billion (about Tk 59,000 crore), in which former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, her sister Sheikh Rehana, her son Sajeeb Wazed and her nephew Tulip Siddique, among others, are named.
