In Bhola Charfashan, BNP and its affiliates have been accused of occupying the children's Maktab and using it as a political office.
According to multiple local sources, there is a Maktab house near Kakrail Jame Mosque near the market in Aminpur village, which was built about 10 years ago with the help of UNDP and Muslim Aid. Since the beginning, the imam and muezzin of the mosque have been using the house as a Maktab house to teach the children and teenagers. Sometimes during the day, the government's ‘Ek Bari Ek Khamar’ project officials will meet at the Maktab Ghar.
After the fall of the Awami government in August last year, local BNP and organization leaders Sohrab Rhari, Boni Amin Dalal, Zakir Rhi, Zakir Howladar, Babul Munshi, Ismail Sikdar and their associates started political activities by occupying the house.
Abu Taher, president of the mosque committee, said, ‘The house was very important for the religious education of children. Some days ago some people came and took over the house. Now we are forced to teach the maktab inside the mosque in the morning. We want the house to be opened for the children's Quran education.’
‘It was a government house and a center of religious education. It is an unethical and religious insult to occupy such a place for political interests,’ some locals, who did not want to be named, expressed their anger.’
However, denying the allegations, Bashir Ahmed, senior vice president of Char Kukri-Mukri Union Juba Dal, said that the house was occupied by Awami League for the past few years, local BNP leaders and workers are using it as a political office and they did not occupy the house.
In this regard, Union BNP President Samchul Haque told Prothom Alo that after learning about the matter, he asked the party leaders and workers to leave the house. ‘They don't sit anymore. But a few chairs and pictures of the central leaders of BNP remain. I hope they will be removed and the Maktab will be opened again.’
surfaction Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) Emadul Hossain said that after knowing the matter, necessary action will be taken after investigation quickly.
